It is like a dream come true...Rug loves, and I mean LOVES, his little sis, Beets. He kisses her ALL the time and is always running up to her and hugging her and patting her head and tummy and covering her with the blanket (usually COVERING her entire body including her head, but he means well, ha!). I have caught him numerous times putting the pacifier in her mouth when it falls out or trying to feed her juice out of his sippy cup...that one did not go over too well with her as she just looked at him like WTF?!The feeling is definitely mutual as Beets starts to smile so big whenever she hears Ruggie's voice or whenever he is near. She doesn't even mind when he bonks her head with his or basically lies right on top of her. She just laughs it all off. That girl is going to be one tough cookie!
Beets had her immunization shots last week and weighed in at exactly 14 lbs. Not that I'm counting BUT that is a 9 oz gain from the previous week! Holy mac! She only cried a little bit when they gave her the three shots and she laughed when they gave her the oral Rotovirus immunization. Evidently she giggles in the face of danger. Rug had his flu shot and he only cried a little bit....a FAR cry from when he would wail like a banshee the second we stepped foot into the doctor's office and he caught a glimpse of a nurse with a clipboard.
This past weekend we went to a Fall festival at one of the local churches and stuffed our faces with free hot dogs, nachos and soda. Ruggie was one sticky, cheesy mess by the time we left since he could not help dunking his finger into the cheese sauce. He played a few games (Unlock the Door, which we helped him with as he just stared at the key they gave him and Spin the Wheel, which should have been called Watch Us Spin The Wheel For You, ha!). There was a pumpkin patch at the festival which we had gone to the day before to get some great pictures, but this time around Ruggie was showing off his arm guns by taking pumpkins and throwing them. He threw a small pumpkin (or PUNKIN as he says) on top of a bigger one and knocked the stem right off and then walked around with this trophy very proudly (pictures to come). Meanwhile, Beets was sound asleep with the wind blowing in her hair in the Snugli with Mama.
Beets is spending more and more time awake these days. She is swatting at the hanging toys from the Baby Einstein and she loves to sit up and just look around (she is mastering her neck control these days). Much like her big bro, she is not a big fan of tummy time although we have made her do that so she can build up her little chubby arm muscles. Ruggie loves to just stare at her as she is in tummy time and then thinks it is funny to have his own tummy time once I pull her off the mat. Ha!
Mama had a bit of a scare this past week because it seemed like Ruggie was just picking at his food and hardly eating. After consulting with my fellow mamas, I learned that this was very natural. Well, it turns out I shouldn't have even worried because over this past weekend, Rug had a food field day with tons of chicken nuggets, an ENTIRE slice of messy pizza, Monkey Munch (Mama was inspired by John and Kate Plus Eight and made the recipe which was DELISH!), chex cereal, potatoes, eggs....you name it!
Tuna is coming down with a bit of the same cold that Ruggie had last week, so he slept on the sofa last night (so he wouldn't wake the kids) coughing up a storm, my poor baby. Love ya!
