Where the Wild Monsters Are

Yesterday was our visit to the dentist. This was Ruggie’s third time and Beet’s first so I knew we had our work cut out for us. Luckily the dentist has a waiting room that is painted from foot to ceiling like an aquarium so both kids were running around in awe pointing at the different fish and dolphins. Beets is in her “Oh” phase where she points to things, puts her mouth in an “O” shape and gasps as if she is stunned. Here is a picture that can explain what I mean.

Everything went pretty smoothly. Ruggie was a storm trooper when it came to getting his teeth checked but once they pulled out that water sucky thingy, he went balls-istic. She finally had to harness it back in place because he was threatening to bolt out of the chair if she didn’t. We even let Beets touch it to show it was nothing but Ruggie could have cared less. Once it was Beet’s turn, she pursed her lips together so tight that the dentist had a hard time even getting her hand into her mouth to count her teeth. That’s my girl! Anyway, bottom line, Ruggie will probably need braces for his overbite, oh!

I decided to take the rest of the day off and we just hung around the house playing and watching Nick Jr. since it was storming out! Ruggie told us, “Let’s watch ‘It’s Great to be a Ghost’ because it’s Halloween time, Dada.” I love how they get in the spirit of the season! Afterwards, Ruggie and Beets ran around the apartment pretending to be scared of ghosts. In fact, last night as I was putting Ruggie to sleep, he made me “punch” (which amounted to me punching the air) all the bats, ghosts, skeletons and the ceiling fan before he would go to sleep.

Beets is very much a book-lover like her brother, although she wants to run around with them and usually only lets me read her a few pages before she bolts with the book. Her favorites right now are “Mommy/Daddy Loves Me” and “Where is Baby’s Belly Button?” Ruggie is very much into “Where the Wild Things Are.”

Tuna and I had our date night last night and just spent a quiet evening at home watching tv and eating and snuggling. It was nice and much-needed, but when our babies came back home, we were MORE than thrilled to have the noise back! Funny how once you have kids, you can only stand the quiet for so long before you begin to crave all the craziness and fun and headache-inducing noise that only two toddlers can create!
